Through the mosque of his village Al-Aroura, where he was raised and established Hamas in the region, cries of takbeer erupted announcing the killing of the town's leader in Hamas, Saleh Al-Arouri. As soon as the news spread, the townspeople gathered in front of Sheikh Saleh Al-Arouri's house in the Ramallah district to condemn his assassination.
Saleh Al-Arouri's mother received the news of her son's death with patience: "May Allah accept him, my dear... May Allah accept him." She said, "My son wished for martyrdom and has attained it. I have not seen him for over twenty years due to his exile and being prevented from entering Palestinian territories." His sister, Um Qutaybah, commented: "A leader dies in Palestine, and dozens of leaders are born."
