In a terrifying scene on one of the beaches in Hurghada, Egypt, a shark attacked and ate a young Russian man who was swimming in the open sea. The video showed the young man trying to call for help, but his attempts to escape from the shark were unsuccessful after suffering multiple attacks and losing a significant amount of blood.
In light of the unusual behavior observed from the shark involved in the incident and the fact that there have been previous attacks on humans by this type of shark, a specialized team was formed to catch the shark responsible for the incident to examine it and determine potential reasons for the attack and whether it was the same shark linked to previous incidents.
The Russian consulate’s official page in Hurghada warned Russians on Facebook against entering the water, urging them to exercise caution and strictly adhere to swimming and diving rules imposed by the Egyptian authorities.
The Egyptian Ministry of Environment issued an urgent statement confirming that it received a report of a shark attack on one of the beachgoers in Hurghada. The statement mentioned that Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad instructed to quickly form a committee of specialists from the Red Sea Protected Areas as soon as the Ministry received the report, to investigate the circumstances of the attack on-site.
