Striker Dejan Damjanović, the historical goalscorer of the AFC Champions League, has concluded his journey with Kitchi following the expiration of his contract with the Hong Kong champion.
The club announced today, Thursday, the separation from Damjanović (41 years old) after two and a half years since his arrival from Daegu FC in South Korea.
Damjanović, who scored 42 goals in the Champions League, established himself as one of the prominent strikers in Asian football during his stints with FC Seoul, Beijing Guoan, and Suwon Bluewings, and also had a brief period with Al Ahli in Saudi Arabia.
He surpassed the previous record held by South Korean Lee Dong-gook in the AFC Champions League in 2021 and added four more goals with Kitchi in the continental competition.
The former Montenegro national team striker helped Kitchi reach the Round of 16 in the Champions League for the first time in 2022, where they were eliminated by Thailand's Pathum United last August.
He scored 61 goals in 61 matches across all competitions with Kitchi, finishing the Hong Kong Premier League as the top scorer while also winning the title, as well as the FA Cup and the League Cup this season.
Damjanović has not yet determined whether he will continue his professional career, which began in 1998.
