The Hamas movement praised the role of Christians in Palestine in a statement released on the eve of Christmas, stating: "The holidays of our Christian people this year come amid a continuous fascist aggression launched by the Nazi occupation against all components of our Palestinian people, targeting all its resources, mosques, churches, and existence on its land, committing horrific crimes unprecedented in modern history. This occurs amidst international silence and complicity led by the U.S. administration, a partner in these crimes and violations." The statement continued: "We, in the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), on this occasion, extend our appreciation for the honorable national stance of our Palestinian Christians, limiting their celebrations this year to religious rituals and standing united with our people in Gaza, who are facing brutal Zionist aggression. This decision confirms that our people, with all its components—Muslims and Christians—are united on the path of steadfastness on their land, preserving their identity, and protecting their Islamic and Christian sanctities."
