An Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Lior Hayat, announced today, Friday, that "the number of fatalities from the Hamas attack on towns in southern Israel on October 7 has been revised down to about 1,200, after government estimates previously indicated 1,400 deaths." He stated in a written statement that "approximately 1,200 is the official number of the victims of the October 7 massacre." He added that the death toll, which includes foreign nationals, "is not a final figure. It is an updated estimate and may change as all bodies are identified."
