Years after the tragedy that befell the family of the Palestinian child and icon of the revolution Muhammad al-Durra, particularly after global media circulated images of his father attempting to protect him before being killed by gunfire, the second son Ahmad al-Durra, brother of the martyred child Muhammad al-Durra, was killed in an Israeli bombing that targeted the family home in the Al-Bureij camp. Jamal al-Durra, the father of the martyrs Ahmad and Muhammad, also lost several family members at the beginning of the assault on Gaza due to the bombing of their home. Al-Durra stated during the funeral of the martyrs: "Israel bombed the homes of my brothers; my two brothers, my brother's wife, and his only daughter were killed, and dozens of my neighbors, most of them children, were killed."
