Former MP Walid Jumblatt commented on the political developments, addressing his message to both Amos Hochstein and Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian during his reception of Patriarch Bechara Rai, stating: "Abroad, there are those who do not assist with the presidential elections, and internally, there are voices that say yes to the vacuum. Hence, I invited Hochstein since he succeeded in demarcating the borders between Lebanon and Israel according to Lebanese demands, with some disputed points remaining, and Abdullahian, who said they support the presidential elections, should translate that into action." Regarding President Nabih Berri's call for dialogue, Jumblatt expressed his hope that the initiative would succeed in pulling Lebanon out of the impasse, adding, "I do not know." Concerning the events in Sweida, Jumblatt remarked: "I have not heard of a plan related to Syria and Iraq, and the demands of the people of Sweida are the demands of all the Syrian people, which started in 2011, and they are the same demands, and nothing has changed," emphasizing that he does not believe in conspiracy theories.
