Title: Murray Withdraws from Cincinnati Tournament Due to Abdominal Issue

Andy Murray withdrew from the Cincinnati Open late on Monday as the British player continues to recover from an abdominal problem ahead of his bid to compete in the US Open later this month. The 36-year-old Murray had also withdrawn from the Canadian Open the previous week before his round of 16 match against Italy's Jannik Sinner, who subsequently won the title, due to the issue he sustained after spending nearly five hours on the court to defeat Lorenzo Sonego and Max Purcell. The ATP stated that the three-time Grand Slam champion and former world number one traveled to Cincinnati with hopes of being fit in time to face Russian Karen Khachanov, but he will now be replaced by a lucky loser. Murray is currently ranked 36th in the world, his highest ranking since undergoing hip surgery in 2019, and he has been selected for the British team to participate in the final group stage of the Davis Cup, which will take place after the US Open scheduled from August 28 to September 10.
