Shooting in Ain al-Hilweh Camp in the Morning

Gunfire was heard in Ain al-Hilweh camp in the morning, which was revealed to be the result of the brother of the deceased Mahmoud Zbeidat (a member of the "Fatah" movement) firing in the air in protest after the latter died overnight from his injuries due to clashes that erupted between elements of the movement and others from "Islamic groups" in the Safsaf neighborhood - upper street. The intensity of the clashes increased overnight following the announcement of the death of the injured Zbeidat, before communications took place among Palestinian forces at all levels to de-escalate and contain the aftermath of the events, leading to a cautious calm in the camp throughout the night before gunfire resumed this morning.

UNRWA schools inside the camp closed their doors today, Thursday, for the safety of students, as well as several neighboring schools. The clashes also resulted in damage to vehicles and property. In a statement, the administration of the Al-Nidaa Humanitarian Hospital inside the camp announced that, "As a result of the unfortunate clashes that took place on Wednesday in Ain al-Hilweh camp, the hospital received seven injured individuals with injuries ranging from severe, moderate, to minor. Necessary first aid was provided to them in the emergency department, and an emergency surgery was performed on one of the injured, while another was admitted for further treatment and two injuries were transferred out of the camp by the Al-Nidaa ambulatory team; the remaining injured individuals were released home in good condition after receiving treatment."
