Syrian Anger Over Accusations of Chemical Weapon Use

Syria condemned the statements from the French Foreign Ministry and the spokesperson of the U.S. National Security Council, which included false accusations against it regarding the use of chemical weapons in 2013. The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates stated today: "These statements aim to obscure the real criminal and cover up France and the United States' involvement and responsibility in the incident of the use of chemical weapons by terrorist groups in Eastern Ghouta in August 2013, among other incidents."

The ministry added that "Syria denounces the positions of France and the United States, which fall within the framework of covering up their responsibility alongside other countries in supporting terrorist groups, and their involvement in supplying those groups with materials and chemical weapons that were used in all incidents that occurred in Syria."

The ministry emphasized that "U.S. and French officials, along with their affiliates, are the ones who should be held accountable, as they have allied with terrorist organizations and participated in spilling Syrian blood, while practicing a policy of starving the Syrian people through terrorism and unilateral coercive measures that violate the principles of international law and the United Nations Charter."
