FIFA World Rankings Update: Argentina Reaffirms Leadership

Argentina, the reigning world champion, has solidified its position at the top of the FIFA World Rankings following the release of the latest list today, Thursday. The top five teams remained unchanged after the international period. Argentina, which dethroned Brazil last April, retained first place after victories over Ecuador and Bolivia in the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup earlier this month. France maintained its second place, despite losing to Germany in a friendly match last week, followed by Brazil in third, England in fourth, and Belgium in fifth.

Portugal was the only team to improve its ranking, moving up to eighth, while Italy dropped to ninth after a 1-1 draw with North Macedonia in the qualifiers for the 2024 European Championship. Croatia stands at sixth, followed by the Netherlands, with Spain completing the top ten list. Morocco (13), Colombia (16), Denmark (18), and Japan (19) also moved up in the rankings.
