Gatorland Park in Orlando, Florida, announced in a press release the birth of a rare and extremely cute white alligator on Thursday. The park stated that this is "the first white alligator born under human care, and it is one of only eight in the world." Mark McHugh, the president and CEO of Gatorland, said, "For the first time since the discovery of leucistic alligator nests in the Louisiana swamps 36 years ago, we are documenting the birth of the first ever alligator from those original alligators." The newborn is a female weighing 96 grams and measuring 49 centimeters long. She resembles a lizard as much as she resembles an alligator.
