The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), the organization that oversees the Formula 1 World Championship, appointed Jean Monchaux, the former technical director of the Sauber team, to the same position within the FIA on Tuesday. Monchaux stated in a statement: "I have worked with competing teams for many years, and now the opportunity has come to help shape the future of the sport with the FIA, which is something I enjoy." The engineer, who was born in France, will oversee a unit within the FIA that deals with current technical affairs in Formula 1 and future regulations.
