Countdown Begins: First Day of Ramadan

The countdown to the month of Ramadan for the year 1445 AH has begun. According to astronomical calculations prepared by the Solar Research Laboratory at the National Institute for Astronomical Research in Egypt, the crescent of the month of Sha'ban will be born immediately after the conjunction at 1:00 AM local Cairo time on Saturday, 29th of Rajab 1445 AH, corresponding to February 10, 2024 (the day of sighting). In the capitals and cities of the Arab and Islamic world, the new crescent will remain visible for durations ranging between 30 to 50 minutes after sunset on that day, thus the beginning of the month of Sha'ban 1445 AH, astronomically, will be on Sunday, February 11.
