Minister of Public Works in the resigned government, Ali Hamiye, wrote on his official account on the platform "X": "To clarify to the public: Some ask why water accumulates on certain highways and why it is not drained through the channels? The video dated today, Saturday, January 13, 2024, from the 'Farfori' water channel in Dhbayeh, shows shockingly large amounts of construction sand that are being removed and lifted from it by the ministry's machinery, which continues to work there day and night."
He added: "Just for information and reminder, the sands from the construction sites placed in this channel come from the construction sites in the higher areas of the region, and they will undoubtedly raise the water level in it, leading to flooding towards the highway, which will result in the drainage channels becoming blocked, and consequently, water accumulation and road closures."
He concluded: "Is that reasonable? Is the water channel the appropriate place for placing construction sands? Who is responsible for that?"
