Syrian Army: Israel Targeted South of Damascus

The Syrian Arab News Agency reported that a military source stated the army intercepted several Israeli missiles launched from the Golan Heights targeting southern Damascus today, Friday. The source said, "Around 4:20 AM today, the Israeli enemy launched an aerial aggression from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan, targeting several points south of Damascus. Our air defense systems confronted the missiles of the aggression and shot down some of them, with material losses only." No comment has been issued from the Israeli army yet. Israel has been conducting strikes for years on what it describes as Iran-linked targets in Syria, where Tehran's influence has grown since it began supporting President Bashar al-Assad in the civil war that erupted in 2011. Since the attack by the Palestinian Hamas movement on Israel on October 7 from Gaza, Israel has intensified its strikes on targets tied to Iran in Syria, also targeting the Syrian army's air defense systems and some Syrian forces.
