U.S. President Joe Biden stated today, Tuesday, that achieving a ceasefire in Gaza is "currently in the hands of Hamas." These remarks were made while Biden was in the state of Maryland. He told reporters, "The hostage deal and reaching a ceasefire in Gaza are now matters in the hands of Hamas." He continued, "A ceasefire must happen; otherwise, the situation in Jerusalem will become very dangerous during Ramadan." He emphasized, "More aid must be allowed into Gaza, and there are no excuses for that." For its part, Hamas accused Israel of employing "stalling tactics" regarding ceasefire initiatives. Hamas leader Osama Hamdan stated that there will be no exchange of detainees until a ceasefire is announced.
