Abu Dhabi Ports Takes Over Operation of New Port in Egyptian Safaga

According to a statement from the Cabinet, Egypt signed an agreement on Wednesday with Abu Dhabi Ports Group to operate and maintain the multi-purpose (Safaga 2) terminal at Safaga Port. Egyptian Transport Minister Kamel al-Wazir stated that the new Safaga 2 terminal will accommodate one million containers annually and will receive seven million tons of cargo. He added that the ministry has invested 3.6 billion Egyptian pounds (116.7 million dollars) to develop Safaga Port. The statement mentioned that the project covers an area of 810,000 square meters, with a berth length of 1,100 meters and a depth of 17 meters.
