"Cocaine Submarine": Colombian Navy Seizes 3 Tons of Drugs

Colombian military forces announced on Saturday via their official Twitter account that "the Colombian Navy managed to intercept the largest submarine used for drug trafficking in the Pacific, seizing 3 tons of cocaine on board." The submarine was 14 meters long, and the estimated value of the drugs seized is around 88 million dollars. Additionally, naval personnel found two bodies inside the submarine and provided life-saving treatment to two other individuals who were on board. The Colombian National Defense Ministry stated in a statement, "Once the illegal vessel was located, army personnel found two people in poor health on the exterior of the ship." It noted that "there appeared to have been an incident inside the semi-submersible due to the generation of toxic gases from the fuel." The survivors and bodies were brought to the municipality of Tumaco "where they were presented to the technical investigation body of the Attorney General's Office." In this interdiction, 3,058 kg of cocaine hydrochloride were seized, thwarting the entry of 103 million dollars into narcotrafficking organizations and the distribution of 7.6 doses on the streets of the world.
