Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that rescue workers are making intense efforts to locate nine miners trapped underground after a landslide at a gold mine in eastern Turkey on Wednesday. State media reported that four individuals have been arrested as the investigation begins. The minister stated, "The search and rescue operations we are conducting will continue day and night. We hope to receive good news and are working towards that." He reported that initial findings suggest the landslide involved approximately 10 million cubic meters of soil. The landslide occurred yesterday afternoon in the Erzincan region. The Turkish Radio and Television Corporation noted that the field manager of the mine is among the four individuals trapped.
