China Central Television reported that "seven people have died and two are missing after a gas explosion at a coal mine belonging to Yahi Energy in Anhui Province, eastern China, today (Monday)." Coal mine accidents are frequent in China. In January, 16 people were killed in an incident in Pingdingshan in central China, prompting local authorities to conduct safety checks.
