White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby stated that Washington has "no intention to deploy ground military forces" following the attacks launched by Hamas on Israel, but it will protect American interests in the region. He reiterated that the U.S. administration "does not see compelling evidence of Tehran's direct involvement in Hamas's attacks," explaining to reporters that "we cannot confirm reports from the Wall Street Journal about specific Iranian involvement in the Hamas attack on Israel."
He added that the U.S. expects additional security requests from Israel and will try to meet all its needs as quickly as possible, noting that it is possible to "support both Israel and Ukraine at the same time." Furthermore, Kirby indicated that the United States still believes there should be encouragement for the normalization of relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia, but "we cannot speculate at this stage how the Saudi-Israeli normalization efforts will be affected."
