Gunmen Kidnap 8 People in Northern Nigeria

Residents reported on Thursday that "gunmen kidnapped at least eight people during an attack in the Dan Hono area of Kaduna State in northern Nigeria." Kaduna police spokesperson Mansour Hassan stated that "the police are investigating the kidnapping incident that occurred late Tuesday in an area under the control of the Chikun local government." Mohamed Danguma, one of the survivors, told Reuters that "around 16 people were kidnapped, and eight managed to escape." He added: "While the gunmen were busy trying to break into my apartment, one of the guards in the group fired a shot into the air, which made this armed gang feel insecure and leave." Malam Suleiman, another abducted citizen, managed to escape while being taken to the bush, but this armed gang kidnapped his teenage children.
