The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued the following statement: "As part of the ongoing efforts by the Internal Security Forces to reduce crime in various Lebanese regions, it was determined that one of the main perpetrators involved in multiple armed robbery incidents, which involved gunfire directed at victims or fired into the air, in the vicinity of the Sports City and Sabra, is named Y. M. (born in 1996, Lebanese) with a criminal history including theft, drug-related offenses, and gunfire. He is considered a dangerous individual and is continuously armed.
On 19/01/2024, after surveillance and monitoring, a patrol from the Information Branch successfully executed a swift operation in the Sabra area, leading to his arrest. A black "Smith & Wesson" pistol, two magazines, nine bullets, a stolen mobile phone, and a sum of money were seized from him. During interrogation, he confessed to executing over 100 armed robbery operations in the vicinity of the Sports City and Sabra, in coordination with others, and acknowledged firing a weapon during the robberies. He also admitted to using drugs and stated that the seized phone was stolen from an individual on the day of his arrest.
Legal actions have been taken against him, and he along with the confiscated items has been turned over to the relevant authority, based on instructions from the competent judiciary. Efforts are still ongoing to arrest all involved parties. Therefore, the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces circulates his photograph and requests that anyone who has been a victim of his activities to approach the Information Branch - Mount Lebanon Division, or contact the number 513732/01 to proceed with legal actions."
