Russian ear, nose, and throat specialist Anastasia Glumado warned that "snoring may lead to serious health complications." The doctor stated, "Snoring is a sign of a medical problem called obstructive sleep apnea, which can be related to the anatomical features of the pharynx." She added, "Repeated choking episodes with decreased oxygen concentration in the blood lead to drowsiness and headaches throughout the following day after they occur. Additionally, oxygen deficiency increases the risk of heart attacks, strokes, heart rhythm disorders, and high blood pressure." The doctor indicated that "when the first signs of snoring appear, a person should see a specialist for diagnosis and treatment, as only they can determine the exact cause of snoring, and that treatment in some cases may be very simple, such as changing sleeping positions." Many medical studies have previously indicated a link between snoring and sleep disorders associated with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), and experts warned that such disorders may lead to serious cardiovascular problems.
