An Indian doctor lost control when he learned that a patient had concealed a serious and contagious illness from him, leading him to repeatedly hit the patient. The details reveal that a doctor at a hospital in India was dismissed after a video surfaced showing him physically assaulting and insulting a patient for not disclosing his HIV status.
According to "India Today," the 45-year-old patient had been admitted to the state-run Maharaja Yeshwantrao Hospital for treatment of a fractured bone. The doctor became angry when he realized that the patient had not informed any of his caregivers that he was infected with the contagious virus before starting treatment.
The viral video depicts the doctor slapping the patient multiple times and cursing at him. The hospital was compelled to clarify the situation following the video's release, explaining that the doctor was left in shock, especially given that the patient had put the entire medical staff at risk of contracting HIV.
As a result, disciplinary action was taken against the doctor. Brahmandra Thakur, in charge of Maharaja Yeshwantrao Hospital, stated that the orthopedic doctor was immediately suspended and that a three-member committee had been formed to investigate the case and submit a report within three days.
