The "Dubai AI Centre" organized a workshop in collaboration with "Microsoft," "IBM," and "Rotcord" to discuss the growing role of artificial intelligence across various fields, how to keep pace with the rapid advancements in its applications and tools in both the public and private sectors, and how to organize and govern these uses. This workshop aligns with the efforts of the "Dubai AI Centre" to enhance its global partnerships and fulfill its pivotal role in forming an integrated community that embraces government entities, technology companies, and entrepreneurs, providing a platform for creative minds and innovative ideas from around the world, and collaborating to launch quality initiatives and programs that support the employment of new AI applications in improving government performance.
The workshop included a panel discussion featuring Maytha Al Suwaidi, Chief Operating Officer at "Microsoft" UAE; Mustafa Zouf, Vice President for Data and Artificial Intelligence at "IBM"; and Saeed Al Falasi, Director of the "Dubai AI Centre," moderated by the founder and CEO of "Rotcord." Participants emphasized the importance of effectively applying AI strategies in both the public and private sectors, leveraging its broad and diverse capabilities to achieve institutional goals in the short and long term.
The panelists presented a range of future scenarios for AI's role in shaping government policies and public services over the next decade, in addition to discussing key ethical considerations that should be prioritized to ensure the responsible and fair use of AI technologies. Notably, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Future Foundation, launched the "Dubai AI Centre" in June 2023, aiming to support government entities in Dubai in practically and effectively employing future technologies in preparation for the radical transformations ahead in various vital sectors.
The center, overseen by the Dubai Future Foundation, the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, the Dubai Media Council, and the Dubai Digital Authority, has been training government employees on AI applications, launching experimental projects, enhancing governmental services that can benefit from these applications, and supporting startups specializing in this advanced technological field from the UAE and around the world.
