The Russian media agency reported on Wednesday that Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Russia does not intend to participate in a special peace conference on Ukraine hosted by Switzerland, even if it receives an official invitation. The Kremlin said on February 26 that "the idea of holding peace talks without Russia is absurd," following Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's hope to hold a summit in the spring in Switzerland to discuss his vision for peace with Kyiv's allies.
