Just a few hours after the collective resignation of 11 founding members of the Turkish opposition "Future" party, a core component of the "Six-Party Table" alliance, in protest of the anti-refugee rhetoric of the "Nation Alliance" candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, the announcement by the third presidential candidate Sinan Oğan further boosted Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's chances of victory, especially since Oğan urged his voters to support Erdoğan.
The board member of the Future Party and chief advisor to the party's chairman, Bayram Zilan, stated that the resigning members feel significant disappointment due to the contradictions between the party's program and its practices, emphasizing that the party has turned into a place where merit and effort are disregarded. He added, "We no longer want to be the human resource for personal ambitions as our goal is to create clean politics," according to the Turkish version of CNN.
He said, "We will be against violence and terrorism, against blood and hatred," in a clear reference to the resigning members' inclination to support Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in the second round of the presidential elections.
