Title: Ethiopian Soldiers Kill Over 50 Civilians

Three residents told Reuters that Ethiopian soldiers killed more than 50 civilians last week in a town in the Amhara region during house-to-house searches following clashes with a local armed group. No spokespersons from the Ethiopian army, government, or Amhara regional administration have responded to requests for comment on the reported killings in the town of Mirawi. According to three residents and a fighter from the Fano group who participated in the fighting, the killings occurred after clashes between the army and the armed group on Monday. All of them refused to reveal their identities due to fear of retaliation. Reuters has been unable to verify their accounts through independent sources. The killings in Mirawi appear to be among the deadliest incidents in the war that broke out in July between the army and the armed Fano group. The United Nations reported last year that this war had led to the deaths of more than 200 people.
