Lebanese artist Hussein Munther, known as the artist of the Palestinian revolution and leader of the well-known Al-Aashiqeen Troupe with its national songs, passed away on Sunday evening. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas mourned him, stating in a statement: "Palestine has lost a son among its loyal fighters who dedicated their lives to serving the Palestinian revolution through an artistic and struggle journey, during which he created an artistic model that will remain immortal in the national consciousness of our people." He added, "The late artist transformed the history of the contemporary Palestinian revolution, its battles, and heroics into a living image through the Al-Aashiqeen Troupe, which is closely associated with the late artist's name." Munther was born in Baalbek and was the leader of the Palestinian Al-Aashiqeen Troupe, founded in 1978. According to the official Palestinian news agency, the late artist left his vocal mark on more than 300 national songs, with some of his most famous songs including "From Akka Prison a Funeral Came Out," "O Climber of the Fire Mountains," "Witness, O World, Upon Us and Beirut," and "The Fire Raged."
