Luton Town captain Tom Luker made an emotional visit to his teammates at the club's training ground on Monday as he continues his recovery from a heart crisis he experienced during a Premier League match last month. The Welsh national player was hospitalized on December 16 after collapsing on the field in the 65th minute of a game that was later canceled. Luker was discharged from the hospital on December 21 after having an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator fitted to prevent a recurrence of the incident.
Luker stated, "I really enjoyed coming and seeing all the players. I hadn’t seen them since the health crisis, and it was great to see them all and return to the club. I’ve always been very active throughout my life, not just in football but in all aspects of my life generally. They informed me that I wouldn’t be able to live my life as before. It was very difficult."
Luton Town manager Rob Edwards said, "It was a great day," adding, "We all tried to hold it together; it was an emotional meeting. Luker has been through tough circumstances for himself and his family, but for us, it was great to see him." Luton, currently in 18th place in the league, will play at home against Brighton & Hove Albion tomorrow, Tuesday.
