Clarification Statement from the Ministry of Finance Regarding Retirement Pensions

The media office of the Ministry of Finance stated in a release that, "In reference to what was previously issued regarding retirement pensions, the Ministry of Finance reiterates that the issue of tax settlement has been addressed and all due payments were disbursed at the beginning of August 2023. Regarding the deductions for the State Employees' Cooperative, the Ministry of Finance informs that the installment payments of the nine installments previously announced began in August 2023. With the disbursement of September 2023 pensions, there remain seven future installments to fully settle the cooperative deductions for those subject to the State Employees' Cooperative.

Concerning inquiries from retirees and their family members as well as concerned parties, the Ministry of Finance reminds that inquiries are restricted to the retirees themselves or their immediate family members (parents and children) or anyone holding a special power of attorney. The Ministry also reminds that inquiries are limited to Tuesdays and Wednesdays of each week, in accordance with decision No. 674/S4 issued by the Directorate of Disbursements, so that the latter can complete the transactions and procedures required for timely disbursement of expenses, especially salaries, retirement pensions, social assistance, transportation compensation, and other expenses. This is to avoid the burden and costs of traveling to the Directorate's headquarters on one hand, and the inability to meet demands or inquiries by the staff on the other hand, during days other than the aforementioned two days.

Regarding retirement pension certificates, the Ministry of Finance emphasizes that they can be obtained either from the Pension Disbursement Department during the specified review days mentioned above (every Tuesday and Wednesday of the week), or through the various accounts and finances across Lebanon, or viewed via the official ministry website WWW.finance.gov.lb during working days."
