International law experts from the United Nations condemned today, Tuesday, the killing of Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement "Hamas" deputy political bureau chief Saleh Al-Arouri and other fighters in drone strikes in Lebanon, stating that the attack constitutes extrajudicial killings. The UN special rapporteurs on extrajudicial executions, Ben Saul and Morris Tidball-Binz, said in a statement issued in Geneva: "Killing on foreign soil is an unlawful act as long as it is not authorized under international law." They added, "Israel was not acting in self-defense as it has not provided evidence that the victims launched an armed attack on Israel from Lebanese territory." The experts also noted that "there is no legal basis for unrestricted geographical attacks on members of an armed group wherever they are."
