Spanish Energy Minister Teresa Ribera indicated on Monday that "the European Union must agree on a common position regarding how member states should reduce their imports of Russian liquefied natural gas." Speaking upon her arrival at a meeting of EU energy ministers in Brussels, where this issue will be discussed, she stated, "We need to rely on a general approach from the European Union, and we will insist on that." She called for "a joint approach on how to reduce or ban imports coming from Russia." She noted that if Spain were to act unilaterally, the impact might be limited due to the ease of redirecting shipments to another EU port.
