The Minister of Public Works and Transport in the caretaker government, Ali Hemyieh, met today, Tuesday, at the ministry with the ambassadors of the four Scandinavian countries: Sweden's Ann Dismore, Finland's Ann Misakton, Norway's Martin Buttervik, and Denmark's Christopher Viveki, who also represented Iceland. The discussions focused on the latest developments in Lebanon and the region, particularly the brutal attacks and massacres committed by the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip.
Hemyieh affirmed to the four ambassadors that "the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and all its affiliated facilities have been and remain fully prepared to cooperate with their countries on all issues of concern," noting that this applies to all ordinary, emergency, or exceptional circumstances that may arise in Lebanon and the region. He considered that "what is happening today on Palestinian soil, a barbaric war waged by the Israeli enemy against women, children, and civilians in the Gaza Strip, is a massacre and genocide that amounts to a war crime under international law." He emphasized that "the brutal killing of children and women is a blatant violation of international law, which mandates their protection rather than their cold-blooded murder," pointing out that "these massacres necessitate bringing the criminals who planned, were responsible for, and executed them to international courts."
