The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described Hamas's demands as "unrealistic" following the movement's announcement of a comprehensive proposal to the mediators in Egypt and Qatar regarding an agreement with Israel. Hamas stated that it presented the Egyptian and Qatari mediators with a comprehensive proposal for a prisoner exchange deal that includes a ceasefire that could last 6 weeks, the release of Palestinian prisoners—potentially numbering 400— in exchange for 40 Israeli prisoners held in Gaza, as well as the delivery of humanitarian aid to the sector, the return of displaced Palestinians to their homes, and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the area.
