A court in Cyprus has ordered the detention of two men for six days under suspicion of human trafficking. The two men have been identified as the captains of boats carrying 146 Syrian refugees and one Lebanese immigrant to the island nation in the eastern Mediterranean. Police stated that the suspects are Lebanese nationals aged 19 and 21. According to the police, the refugees mentioned during questioning that they left the Lebanese city of Tripoli on Thursday, February 22, and each paid $2,500 for a spot on the boats.
