The Ministry of Transport continues the construction of the Upper Egypt railway station in Giza, known as "Beshteel" railway station, which includes the creation of a glass pyramid in the center of the station. The glass pyramid is located in the main hall of the station and stands 40 meters tall, with four ancient Egyptian-style obelisks located inside it.
The main station building covers an area of 31,000 square meters and consists of a basement garage, a ground floor, and two additional floors. It includes six platforms to serve passengers traveling to Upper Egypt. Four platforms for the Manashi line are also being constructed, and work is underway to establish the station yard tracks and connect the workshop tracks with the main tracks (Aswan/Alexandria - Manashi - goods). The completion of all platforms and the installation of railway tracks is in progress, with the total length of railway tracks at the station reaching 22 kilometers with 89 switches.
Notably, the total area of the project is approximately 239,000 square meters, equivalent to 57 acres, which includes the main station building covering 31,000 square meters, with a total built area of 112,000 square meters, and station annexes such as service buildings, maintenance workshops, platforms, and railway lines over an area of 164,000 square meters, as well as investment buildings covering 44,000 square meters. The expected passenger capacity of the station is 250,000 passengers daily. Since the project's initiation, around 7,500 job opportunities have been provided. The main building will feature a basement that will serve as a garage for 250 vehicles, in addition to a planned garage beneath the commercial and administrative residential area that can accommodate 500 vehicles.
