Killing of Deputy Head of Religious Seminary in Southern Iran

Authorities and Iranian media reported the killing of the deputy head of the religious seminary in the city of Mahshahr, Khuzestan province, in a "suspicious incident." Mahshahr's Attorney General Mehdi Mohammadi confirmed to local media that "Sheikh Hamza Akrami, the deputy head of the city's seminary and a prominent professor, was killed." Mohammadi urged the media not to "speculate" about the incident, in order to "assist in uncovering the truth." The Hawza News Agency announced that Hamza Akrami was killed by "thieves," and his body was found next to the Mahshahr railway, adding that "his mobile phone and wallet have not been found."
