Al Ansar has broken its shared lead with defending champion Al Ahed, winning 1-0 (first half 0-0) in a match held this afternoon at the Peace Stadium in Zgharta. This match marked the opening of the first phase of the second round (of three) for the top group, consisting of the top six teams from the first half of the 63rd Lebanese Football League. The match also saw the implementation of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system, approved by FIFA, for the first time in Lebanese stadiums. Hassan Maatouk scored the winning goal for "the Green Leader" in the 61st minute, converting a cross from the right into the net past goalkeeper Mustafa Matar. Al Ansar has now pulled three points ahead of its competitor, who suffered its second loss this season.
