A video circulating on social media in Jordan shows an individual attacking four worshippers inside a mosque in the Al-Russeifa district of Zarqa Governorate, northeast of the Jordanian capital, Amman. Colonel Amer Al-Sartawi, the spokesperson for the Jordanian Public Security Directorate, revealed that the person seen in the video has been apprehended and is suffering from mental health issues. The incident occurred last Wednesday.
Al-Sartawi explained that the individual entered the Al-Sahaba Mosque during the evening prayer in the Hattin area of Al-Russeifa and assaulted four worshippers with a sharp object, resulting in superficial injuries. The individuals were taken to the hospital and their condition is reported to be stable, while security agencies have initiated an investigation.
The video depicts the panic among worshippers as the attacker raised the knife, but several of them defended themselves with chairs and attempted to subdue him. Although the assailant was able to inflict injuries on four worshippers, they managed to overpower him, restrain him, and alert the security forces.
