Iraqi-Turkish Discussions on Regional Developments

Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan discussed the Iranian assault on Erbil, emphasizing the need for dialogue to resolve issues and tensions in the region. According to the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, "the two sides exchanged views on developments in the region, particularly the armed conflict between Pakistan and Iran." They reviewed the latest updates on Fidan's communications with both the Iranian and Pakistani sides regarding the current crisis between them. The two ministers stressed "the necessity of resorting to dialogue, negotiations, and consultations to address problems and tensions in the region to serve stability and contribute to security." They highlighted "the importance of the relations between Iraq and Turkey and the need to strengthen and develop them," expressing pride in "the strong and resilient fraternal relations between the two friendly countries and the commitment to continue working, coordinating, and consulting on various issues of mutual interest."
