Celestial Phenomena to Adorn the Sky Before Year-End

The Moscow Planetarium announced that residents in certain parts of the Earth will be able to witness remarkable celestial events before the end of this year. The statement read: "Earth's inhabitants will be able to observe the Geminids and Ursid meteor showers, which occur in December."

The statement continued: "The Geminids meteor shower, known for its bright, white meteors, often does not fall straight to the Earth but passes close to it. This results in a lower speed for these meteors, approximately 25 km/h. This year, the peak of this phenomenon will occur between December 13 and 14, with an expected observation of up to 150 meteors per hour."

As for the Ursid phenomenon, according to the center, the peak of the meteor shower will be between December 21 and 22, with residents in certain areas expected to see about 10 meteors per hour. The planetarium explained that "Ursid meteors can only be observed by residents of the northern hemisphere and are similar to Geminids, but less bright, with a speed of around 32 km/h."
