Hamidti Seeks a Peaceful Solution, but with a Condition

The leader of the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo "Hamidti," called today, Friday, for a "change in the leadership of the Sudanese army," in his first appearance before the camera since the outbreak of fighting. A video of Hamidti was posted on the Rapid Support Forces' Facebook page, where he appeared surrounded by members of his fighters and apologized to the Sudanese people for the consequences of the ongoing conflict. He stated, "We say to our brothers in the armed forces, if you want an urgent solution, change this leadership... change it and within 72 hours, we will reach an agreement." Hamidti warned that "Ahmad Harun, a former official from the era of former President Omar al-Bashir, who escaped from prison in late April, heads the security committee in the eastern parts of the country controlled by the army." Hamidti previously accused the army in voice messages of receiving orders from followers of al-Bashir, who remained in power for nearly three decades.
