National Free Movement Warns Against Customs Appointments Marginalizing Christian Presence

The Central Committee for Administration and Reviews - Public Sector of the "National Free Movement" stated that "in light of the presidential vacancy, those in power are once again using the presidential void to undermine the foundations of national accord and coexistence, through an attempt to appoint around 200 customs officers from a single sect without any Christian element, contrary to the Cabinet Decision No. 9/2020 which stipulated that appointments should consider the requirements of national reconciliation and coexistence." The statement emphasized that "the National Free Movement warns and alerts against the dangers of similar actions within the state and its administrations, and calls on all relevant parties not to proceed with these appointments, in order to preserve balance, diversity, and partnership and not to undermine the covenant of coexistence among the Lebanese."
