The increase in electricity prices has led to a shortage of vegetables in the United Kingdom. As a result, restaurants have begun to omit tomatoes from their pizza, pasta, and sauces. Many restaurant managers have decided to completely remove the pomodoro pasta dish from the menu. Additionally, restaurants are experiencing a wave of rising meal prices. Tomato prices have risen four times over the year in the UK, while the president of the Italian Chef Association in Britain, Enzo Olivieri, has predicted that some restaurants may close due to the high prices in the country and the UK's exit from the European Union. Chefs are now using cheeses, such as ricotta, or vegetables as main ingredients for pizzas, but without tomatoes. The British government is blaming the poor weather in southern Europe and North Africa for the shortage of tomatoes. High electricity prices have also impacted the supply of products grown in local greenhouses and in the Netherlands. Earlier, a Russian blogger compared food prices in Russia and Europe, and was surprised by the findings that revealed that meats in Russia are cheaper than in many European countries.
