The Lebanese Beekeepers and Farmers Association issued a statement saying: "As beekeepers, we went through the crisis of war and the resulting losses, such as the burning of a large number of beehives and the abandonment of others due to the continuous enemy shelling and the inability of beekeepers to care for the bees, all of which led to significant losses in the beekeeping sector. The situation worsened with the loss caused by the spraying of pesticides on wild herbs and vegetables in coastal areas from Naqoura to Tyre and its suburbs, which has created unimaginable massacres against the beekeeping sector and continues to this day, with beekeepers unable to do anything." The statement added: "It has become imperative for the relevant ministries to act to stop this environmental massacre before the situation escalates and beekeepers take to the streets, as this action threatens entire families in their livelihoods." Beekeepers called on the Minister of Agriculture in the caretaker government to work on addressing the crisis.
