Egypt Extends Sugar Export Ban for Another 3 Months

The Egyptian Cabinet announced in a statement on Monday that "Egypt has extended the sugar export ban for an additional three months, except for quantities exceeding local market needs." A gap in sugar supplies has led to rising prices and a shortage of unsubsidized sugar in stores. The Cabinet previously approved the import of one million tons of sugar this year.
