Iraqi Parliament Calls on Government to Implement Decision for Foreign Troop Withdrawal

The Acting Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, has urged the Iraqi government to implement the parliamentary decision regarding the withdrawal of foreign troops from Iraq. He submitted a request signed by more than 100 MPs to the Legal and Security and Defense Committees concerning a proposed law for the removal of foreign forces from Iraq. Al-Mandalawi condemned, as reported by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), "the continuous assaults on Iraqi territory from any party for any reason," strongly denouncing the "American targeting of the Popular Mobilization Forces and its leaders." He called for "the necessary diplomatic measures to protect Iraq's sovereignty, security, and stability, and emphasized support for the government to ensure that Iraq is a stabilizing factor in its regional and international context."
